We are seeking a highly motivated lab scientist with extensive experience in murine model experimentation. The successful candidate will support planning and execution of complex mouse studies such as surgical procedures and advanced cancer models. In addition, the candidate will support our in vitro and molecular biology target discovery pipeline. Bridging in vitro and in vivostudies, this position offers an opportunity to advance cutting-edge biomedical research in an industry setting at the heart of VBC campus, an international hub for biomedical research. Your responsibilities

Support and independently execute cancer studies in mice including colony management, health monitoring, collection of data and biopsies.

Participate in advanced mouse surgical procedures, with a clear motivation to specialize in surgical techniques and sophisticated in vivo cancer models.

Carry out various experiments in molecular biology and advanced cell culture.

Design and perform experiments for in-depth understanding of target mechanism-of-action and biomarker identification.

Analyze and summarize data packages and present findings to project teams and leadership.

Keep up with project-relevant literature.

Take responsibility for lab managerial tasks.

Your qualifications

A master’s degree in molecular biology, genetics or closely related fields is required.

Experience in industry is preferred

Hands-on expertise in mouse models including FELASA-accredited training (or equivalent) is required.

Demonstrated proficiency in mouse handling, anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative care, with a clear motivation to specialize in surgical techniques and sophisticated cancer models.

Knowledge of genetic perturbation techniques (e.g. CRISPR and RNAi) and a solid theoretical education in genetics are preferred.

Solid theoretical and practical background in molecular and cellular biology techniques such as DNA- and RNA-manipulation, mammalian cell culture such as sterile techniques, independent maintenance, transfection, transduction, and selection of cancer cell lines including analytical methods (e.g. FACS) are preferred.

Experience with primary cell lines, organoid culture is preferred.

Excellent English proficiency and good communication and interpersonal skills.
